History

de Wit Construction Company was founded on 23 October 1923 by Marinus and brother Arie de Wit. The name of the firm was at that time 'Timmerfabriek Wassenaar' (Carpenter Factory Wassenaar): the wood was delivered at that time by horse and cart.

Soon the horse and cart were replaced by wooden hand carriers for father and son. In 1956 son Bart de Wit joined the firm. Most of the work was making windows and doors for other companies but later developed into the firm we know today.

In January 1964 Bart de Wit took over the company whose name became 'de Wit Construction Company'. More and more assignments took the form of complete renovations or even new houses and the number of employees grew rapidly. The foreman, carpenters, demolishers, a tiler and a bricklayer, all became employed. The wooden carrier was replaced by the well known blue mini-vans. Which you can see driving around the area.

In 1991 the third generation joined the firm and in 1997 René de Wit officialy took over the firm.
On October 23rd, 1998 the company celebrated its 75th anniversary. For this occasion we asked the well known Joost Heeren to make a sketch of Wassenaar for our business relations and clients .
